Nelle's Travels - Assisi and Deruta, Italy

Nelle's Travels

This is a new feature on the blog. As a military veteran and spouse, I've had to opportunity to live and travel many places. I would love to be able to share some of these places with you.

In December 2012, I went on a girls trip to Deruta and Asssi, Italy.  We toured Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi, where St. Francis' tomb is stored. St. Francis born and died in Assisi and it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.

We got to shop Christmas Markets like this one with all wine cork instruments. I bought a small olive wood cutting board and spoon and a plate for Santa

THen we traveled to Deruta and got to play "Ghost" by making our own pottery! They hand painted it.

This gentleman helped us make the  ceramics. That's me getting my hands dirty.

It was so much fun! I'd never had a ceramics class and now I'd love to make another one!                     2012-12-09 08.43.57

Do you go on girls trips? Have you been anywhere unusual?
