Quote-Tastic/Review: A New Jill Shalvis series? Bring it!!

quote-tastic final with green border"Quote-Tastic" is a meme hosted every Monday on Herding Cats & Burning Soup. To participate you have to post a favorite quote from a current or past read.

“I...” Her gaze dipped to his chest and then back to his eyes. “I do feel things for you,” she whispered. “Big things. I just...”

He pushed her hair from her face. “You’ll get there when you get there. There’s no rush, Lily.”

Her eyes were big on his. Uncertain. Wary. “I’m just...”

“I know. And I’m not going anywhere,” he promised. “And neither are my feelings for you.” [br][br]

While I hated to say goodbye to Lucky Harbor, I was so excited to get into a new Jill Shalvis world! I love Jill's humor, her books never fail to make me giggle and sigh!

I've been reading a lot of firefighter stories lately and Aiden was one of the hottest!
tumblr_nmr2wzlrYB1qgudwro1_500With Nicky’s legs wrapped and locked around Aidan’s waist, her arms squeezing his head like a grape and her breasts literally suffocating him, he couldn’t breathe. Somehow he managed to turn his head sideways to suck in some air, but he still couldn’t see.

“I’ve got you,” he said. “I’m not going to let go, but you need to loosen your grip.” [br]
Nicky was too busy screaming in his ear to hear him, not loosening her grip at all. “Omigod, don’t you fuckin’ drop me or I’ll sue you the most!” [br]
Mitch had dropped over the edge as soon as Nicky leapt onto Aidan’s back. He was rappelling down as fast as he could, laughing all the way. Aidan couldn’t see shit but he could hear him clearly, the asshole. [br]
“Got his six,” Mitch said into the radio as he came even with Aidan, still laughing. “Though I can’t tell where Aidan ends and Nicky begins.”

[br]His pal Mitch is a hell of a guy! When those two get together there is always a laugh to be had. [br]
Mitch grinned at him. “Man, you just had your bones totally jumped by a nearly naked chick. We almost had to resuscitate you. ‘Fireman Asphyxiated by Boobs, news at eleven.’”

Ok, let's get to the story.  Aiden and Lily have known each other forever. Both were adventurous and connected in the hills above Cedar Ridge. Then tragedy strikes and Lily bolts for the city. Lily returns after 10 years, she's been caught up in some kind of work fiasco and needs to lick her wounds. Aiden isn't about to give up a second chance with her.

The romance doesn't really begin until that latter half of the book but it doesn't detract from the story in any way. We get to meet Aiden's siblings and mother and get some background on the town and it's people. If you like outdoorsy fun, quirky humor and a lot of guy tomfoolery, then you'll love Cedar Ridge!

I'll leave you with one last quote. A girl's got to have her munchies!

“Nice,” the clerk said without a smidgeon of judgment in his voice as he rang her up. “I especially like the way you’ve got the entire junk food pyramid represented here. That’s not easy to do.”
She had a rack of donuts, two pies—one lemon, one cherry—a pint of caramel delight ice cream, a family-size bag of chips, and now cookies as well.
